The path followed by Ștefan Câlția (b. 1942, Brașov) crosses many temporary stages along with contemporary events and thoughts transposed in painting, drawing and engraving. Not necessarily telling a story of the moment, Ștefan Câlția’s work encompasses universal realities, directly and constantly linked to the idea of “life” and “world”. The painter sees the world as a whole made of such clear things that they could not be separated in small segments, no matter how complex would our life path be. Therefore his work and him, as a contemporary artist, are shaped by the transposing of the familiarity of everyday life, in concepts like the Place, nature, carnival or journey.
