| Between the 19th of September and the 17th of October 2010, The Kunstverein Virtuell-Visuell Dorsten will be hosting the personal exhibition of Roman Tolici: Action, named after a series of recent paintings in which the artist focuses on the reality that lies beyond the mundane's spell break. Convinced that "any painted image fills the gaps from our perception of the world and ourselves", Roman Tolici, in his Action series, attacks the static that is a sequence of a flux, following its instability and suppleness. The course of action does not target a research of the movement itself, but the action and its consequences. Limit situations and irreversible events are cut up: the singular moment and its attributes seem to unravel a story containing more truths (even simple ones) than a whole collection of happenings and anecdotes. The exhibition at Kunstverein Virtuell-Visuell Dorsten is organised with the support of the KunstART am Hellweg Bochum gallery and the Institute of Romanian Culture in Berlin: at the opening on the 19th of September, the artist Roman Tolici and Oana Tanase will be present; with this occasion, the catalog for Action will be launched, the graphic concept of it being signed by Corina Duma. |
